European citizens for a more social budget

0 5000

On February 8th, European leaders decided to cut down the European Union's budget for the period 2014-2020

The proposed budget for professional insertion of young people in Europe was put in at 6 bn. Euros - whereas the annual cost of unemployment of young people aged 18-35 comes at 150 bn. Euros.

The Fund to help the most deprived persons in the EU is brought down from 6 bn. Euros for 17 member-states to 2.5 bn. Euros for...28 member states!

The extraordinary challenge of climate change and ecological transition is neglected in a spectacular way.

To the European Council, "saving" appears to mean "jeopardising the future"!

The fear of tackling the issue of taxing new global players at the EU Level should not lead to current aggressive budget cuts that endanger tomorrow.

Europe only exists thanks to its creativity, its capacity to reinvent itself and maintain its social cohesion.

1. We ask our European elected representatives(MEPs) to reject :

- a budget failing to give any opportunity to Europe's new generations,

- a budget failing to address the promise of solidarity at the core of the European project.

2.    We also ask for an extraordinary EU conference on the issue of inter-generational fairness within the EU, and its financing through proper EU resources that would not be taken from Member States.
